Mail Boss mailboxes are made by Epoch Design, a manufacturer that actually got its start building furniture back in 1997 before shifting into mail security. That shift traces back to founder David Bolles, who had his own mail stolen three separate times in 2005. The frustration pushed him to design a mailbox that could stand up to a crowbar instead of folding to one.

Mail Boss launched in 2006, and every unit has been built in the USA since, out of a facility in Arlington, Washington. That welded-steel, anti-pry approach caught on fast, and Mail Boss has become the name most homeowners reach for when they ask for a locking mailbox by brand.
