Installation
Our street lights come pre-wired with multi-tap photocells, allowing for flexible operation across various voltages (120-277VAC, 50/60Hz). This design accommodates various standard voltage settings, including 120V, 208V, 240V, and 277V. A licensed electrician will select the appropriate voltage tap to match your local electrical system during installation.
Installation Note:
Ensure the power source matches the voltage range (120-277VAC). Verify the electrical circuit capacity to handle the load and consider voltage drop for long wiring runs. Proper grounding and compliance with local electrical codes are essential. Install the photocell with the correct orientation for optimal performance. For any specific requirements or questions, please contact our support team before placing your order.
Installing the Pole
- Screw the pole into the base from a vertical position, as this prevents cross-threading.
- With one person, threading the pole into the base may take 3 to 5 minutes due there being approximately 5 inches of thread.
Installation Overview*
You should install your street light onto a cement pad -- the pad itself should be the depth of your local frost line. The base pad should be poured cylindrically with a width of not less than 2 inches larger than the diameter of the base.
You will need four (4) L-Shape bolts measuring 1/2 in. x 12 in. to 18 in. for installation (not provided, but you may obtain these at your local hardware store).
The electrical conduit containing the main electrical wire should protrude through the center of this cement pad. Connect the base of the light to the cement pad using nuts and connect the main electrical wire to the leads extending down from the socket assembly (standard) or the ballast/socket assembly (optional).
Note: The attached templates will typically not print to scale. These templates are only for reference. We recommend that you cut a wood template form using the measurements we provide here. We insist that you confirm the accuracy of your wooden form by physically holding it up against the base and confirming the alignment.

It is the customer and/or installer’s responsibility to ensure proper installation of these units.

We encourage customers to read our full Return Policy before purchasing Street Light packages, fixtures, or photocells.
Disclaimer for all fixtures:
- Warranty is void if fixture or photocell is not installed by a licensed electrician.
- We recommend, that if you have issues with the fixture, you have the licensed electrician troubleshoot the issue.
NOTE: ALWAYS USE A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN
Fixture Voltage
Customers can configure our street light packages and light fixtures for the following:
- 110 Volts
- 220 Volts
- 208 Volts
- 277 Volts
The voltage you select will depend on the operating environment where you intend to install the street lights. We encourage you to consult an electrician from your region if you are unsure which voltage configuration to select. For more info on different electrical service types and voltages, view this resource.
NOTE: ALWAYS USE A LICENSED ELECTRICIAN
The electrician may start by testing the following:
-
Installation
-
Recommended to face photocell in North direction.
- Continuity (see the links provided below)
-
Voltage
-
Test Voltage - this should be within a 10% range (e.g., 110V should range from 108V to 132V).
-
Tip: If it is metered voltage, issues will likely involve the electrician hired to install the fixture. If it is connected directly to the transformer, then the power company may need to address voltage issues.

Configurable Options
Pole Type and Length
You can configure the street light pole starting at 8 feet tall and as high as 14 feet tall. If you require a pole taller than 14 feet, you can select Custom size needed from the dropdown options -- only please note that additional charges will be calculated after the order is placed (if you select this option, we will confirm the total with you directly prior to finalizing the purchase).
In addition to the straight pole, we offer an 8-foot tall tapered pole which will be configured with a wider open base.
See below for each pole’s pricing (note: the 8-foot straight pole comes standard with the package and has no additional charge):
- 8-foot straight pole (overall estimated height: 13 feet) (standard)
- 9-foot tapered pole (overall estimated height: 13 feet) (+$150.00)
- 10-foot straight pole (overall estimated height: 15 feet) (+$200.00)
- 12-foot straight pole (overall estimated height: 17 feet) (+$400.00)
- 14-foot straight pole (overall estimated height: 19 feet) (+$600.00)
- Custom size needed (additional charges may apply)
Flag Holders & Plant Holders
You can add up to two (2) flag / plant holders to each street light package. The flag holder attaches to the middle of the light pole via a circular bracket and includes a rubber insert to shield the pole from abrasion or scratching.
The flag holder is made of heavy-duty cast aluminum and can be used to hang flags or plants for your municipality, residential project, park, etc. If you have a large project and need to see a sample, just let us know and we will ship one out to you.
Flag holder pricing is below:
- One (1) flag / plant holder: $59.00
- Two (2) flag / plant holders: $118.00
LED Advantages and Benefits
Why Should You Choose LED Lighting?
Cities and communities all over the U.S. are making use of low-energy Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures. And with good reason: LEDs offer the highest energy savings of any lighting source available. Energy savings means a better lighting solution for both the environment and your wallet. LED bulbs can also be used with commercial acorn and sphere globes, as well as many residential cast aluminum light fixtures.
LED bulbs can also be used to retrofit existing HID ballast light fixtures.
Advantages of LED Lighting over HID Lighting
- LED is the most energy-efficient light source available. They are preferred because of the high volume of energy savings and also because they contain no hazardous materials, such as mercury.
- They possess a greater than 50,000 hours lifespan (5.7 years). Their long lifespan is double the span of Metal Halide and High Pressure Sodium bulbs.
- Unlike other lighting sources, LED lights do not attract bugs because they do not produce UV light (UV light is what draws bugs to traditional light sources).
- With LED, you get a faster return on investment: You can save over $200.00 per year with a 40-watt LED versus a 175-watt Metal Halide bulb.
LED Bulbs - Additional Information
- 120 - 277 Max Voltage.
- Low heat output.
- Fit existing power systems.
- Built-in surge suppressors & protection.
