But that is soon to change. Effective January 3, 2017, Florence Mailboxes will discontinue rear loading USPS 4C Mailboxes in favor of front loading mailboxes going forward. Overall, we agree with this change and foresee that it will be for the better, both for our existing and future customers.

What is the likely reason for this shift? While the front loading unit is much easier to access and deliver mail to, the rear loading multi-tenant mailbox requires a secure room behind the installation. The logistics of providing the USPS with access to such a room are often challenging and inconvenient, to say the least.

Still, the choice to discontinue these units raises some concerns as to how property managers will be able to replace their existing rear loading 4C applications in the future. Perhaps they will be forced to make the switch to front loading and repurpose the collection room behind the installed mailboxes. If such ends up being the case, our team of mailbox experts will be here to guide customers in finding the right front loading application that corresponds to their existing rear loading mailbox.
