Optional Anchor Bolts
anchor L-bolts (for wet concrete)
expansion anchor bolts (for existing concrete)
If you need anchor bolts for your CBU installation, add them from the dropdown options above the Add to Cart button.
Question: How do I know if I need anchor bolts?
Answer: You will need anchor bolts to install the CBU pedestal. If you plan to install your bolts immediately after pouring new, wet concrete, then you can purchase the L-bolts. Or, if you plan to install the CBU pedestal into dried or existing concrete, you will need the expansion bolts.
Question: What is the difference between the two different types of bolts?
Answer: The L-bolts for pedestal installation are specifically for installations where new concrete is being poured. For installing your CBU in existing concrete, you will need the expansion anchor bolts for existing concrete.
- Each bolt kit includes everything required to mount the CBU pedestal to concrete.
- L-Bolt specs:
- 1/2 inch diameter.
- 2 by 7 inches overall.
- See detailed bolt specifications for more info.
- Expansion Bolt specs:
- 1/2 inch diameter.
- 5 1/2 inches long
- Hardware kit includes four (4) stainless steel anchor bolts and four (4) standard fasteners.
- Vandal proof fasteners can be purchased for added security.
*Note: actual measurements between bolts should be confirmed prior to installation. BudgetMailboxes.com is not liable for faulty installation due to inaccurate measurements.
Expansion Anchor Bolts Overview

When securing the CBU pedestal to a dried or existing concrete pad, it is critical to use the recommended class of hardware to guarantee the strength and safety of the installation. Galvanized or Stainless Steel masonry anchor bolts (1/2 in. x 5 1/2 in. min. length) are the approved hardware to be used when installing a CBU pedestal to an outdoor concrete location.
When installed correctly and to recommended torque specifications, these bolts create the strongest possible bond while retaining their integrity and tensile strength. However, even the finest hardware can only function as well as it is installed. Please follow the specific guidelines and manufacturer's recommendations when installing these anchors. For an installation tutorial, please review the Installation Walkthrough on this page.
Optional Vandal-Proof Fasteners for Added Security
Vandal-Proof, breakaway fasteners prevent mailbox theft by making it nearly impossible for would-be thieves to remove the pedestal using common tools. How does it work?
After you have successfully installed your cluster mailbox at the desired and USPS approved location:
- Apply the breakaway fasteners with a traditional wrench or socket.
- The top fastener breaks off after installation, leaving you with an installed fastener with no drive.
Your CBU pedestal will now be permanently secured at your desired location.
** Important: these vandal-proof fasteners are easy to install but very difficult to remove. This is what makes them a High-Security feature. Contact us if you have any questions. **
